Though the Republican Congress passed the big, ugly bill last week, we must be more determined than ever to fight the Trump regime and the GOP. Here are action steps you can take to help save our country!

Rallies

1. In honor of John Lewis, there will be a John Lewis Day of Action on July 17. Click here to find a rally or information about hosting an event.

Events

1. From Network NOVA: on Thursday, July 10, 7 PM ET, join the Emergency Federal Budget Briefing: The Impact of the Republican House Budget Resolution on Virginia. The Republicans are trying to use the budget process to radically restructure our government. This briefing will describe the Republican plans for taxes, Medicaid, education, nutrition, and the federal workforce. It will provide the information you need to explain the impact of Republican budget proposals as you campaign and have conversations with friends and neighbors. RSVP here.

2. Join One Million Rising: One Million Trained, Millions More Empowered, on Wednesdays, July 16 and July 30, and Aug. 13, 8–9 PM ET, and be one of the One Million Rising — a national effort to train one million people to help lead in this moment, gain the skills to lead others, and build a force that will fight back against the Trump regime’s unconstitutional policies. 3. Join Indivisible Messaging for Solidarity — Race Class Narrative with Anat Shenker-Osorio, Monday, July 21, 7–8:30 PM ET.
   
   The opposition regularly uses racial fear as a tool to exploit economic realities and turn people against one another. The Race Class Narrative messaging and analysis help us fight back against these attacks to build solidarity across differences. 4. 8. Fight Back With Friends is a monthly call to action with Indivisible. Please join this national program designed to help you activate your community! Contact Congress/Attorneys General

1. After the devastating floods in Texas which left people, including children, dead or missing — due in part to weakened warning systems caused by Trump-era cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service — we have to take action now. Use 5Calls.org to urge your members of Congress to Fund U.S. Weather Prediction and Climate Science so future lives can be saved. Click here to contact your MoC.

2. Contact all senators to vote against Eric Bove as justice for the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He has directed the DOJ to ignore court rulings, ordered prosecutors to drop charges against NYC mayor, Eric Adams, and led a purge of career officials at DOJ and the FBI. 3. Save the Fair Housing Initiatives Program. The Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) is a United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program created in 1987 to support people facing housing discrimination, educate about the nation’s fair housing laws, and cure the harmful effects of housing discrimination. Trump has terminated 78 grants to local fair housing organizations and the next budget will eliminate the program entirely. Please call your Members of Congress (MoC), 202-224-3121, and demand that they preserve FHIP. For more info about FHIP and a script to call your MoC, click here.

4. California’s state legislature has written a bill, the No Secret Police Act, to ban the use of masks by law enforcement, including federal ICE agents operating in California, and requires clear identification on uniforms during arrests. Contact your state legislature and tell them to introduce and pass a similar version of California’s No Secret Police Act. Click here to contact them.

5. From Indivisible Blue State Defiance–Safeguarding Civil Liberties: What Blue State Attorneys General Must Do To Stop ICE Overreach. Contact your blue state attorney general and tell them to fight ICE’s overreach. State attorneys general have both the authority and the responsibility to defend residents against federal overreach. Phone Banking, Canvassing, Texting, and Postcard Writing

1. Silver Spring Progressive Action is hosting a phone bank to call Virginia voters on Monday, July 14, 6:30–8 PM ET. We will be phone banking for Abigail Spanberger for governor and Kimberly Pope Adams for House delegate. After all the harm caused by the Trump regime, it’s even more important than ever to make Virginia bluer. With a 51-49 Democratic majority, VA needs to expand their majority in the House of Delegates, and elect Abigail Spanberger governor to deliver a Democratic trifecta. 2. Join the Common Cause Phone bank and mobilize voters to take action against dangerous legislation in state houses around the country. They will focus on the most urgent campaigns that need our help. Issues include stopping bills that make it difficult for students, minorities, seniors, veterans, and others to vote. The phonebanks are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at various times. Sign up here.

3. Please participate in AZ Dems’ GOTV Phonebank on Tuesdays, July 8 and July 15, 4–6 PM MST. Call Democrats in AZ07 to ensure they are aware of the upcoming special election and plan to vote on Election Day, July 15! Register here.

4. Please join a virtual phone bank for Democrats to call North Carolina voters on various dates. It’s an opportunity to build power for the Democrats so we can flip North Carolina blue! Sign up here.

5. Canvass for Democrats and talk with voters in North Carolina in various counties. This is also a great opportunity to help flip North Carolina blue!

6. The SAVE Act, A GOP-backed bill, would make voter registration significantly more difficult for married women, transgender individuals, seniors, people with disabilities, and minorities. The legislation is aimed at addressing the largely unsubstantiated issue of noncitizen voting. While the bill has already passed in the House, it could still be blocked in the Senate if Democratic members remain united.
   
   Common Cause will be hosting phone banks every Tuesday and Thursday either from 5:30–7:30 PM ET or from 6–8 PM ET to call swing state voters and encourage them to urge their legislators to oppose this bill. Volunteers will have the opportunity to patch voters directly through to their lawmakers, allowing them to express their outrage and advocate against the legislation. 7. Join Black Voters Matter on Zoom at 6 PM ET every week on Tuesdays as they gather to drive change through digital organizing. Their texting campaigns will give you the opportunity to engage residents across the U.S. while empowering them to make a positive impact in their communities. 8. Join Third Act and Activate America to write postcards! Write postcards to voters and help safeguard our democracy, win elections, build voter enthusiasm, and turnout to elect progressives and climate champions! Donating

1. Please consider donating. Silver Spring Progressive Action (SSPA) has two funds open now: Build Media that Tells the Truth — Fight Trumpian propaganda with a brave, bold, and honest information movement to reach voters where they are. Protect Democracy Now — Fight Trump in the courts and in the states. One hundred percent of the funds go to the organizations listed, none goes to SSPA.

2. From Rogan's List, please consider supporting relief efforts in Texas. Find a list of vetted local organizations to contribute to via the Communities Foundation of Texas here, and GoFundMe has set up a page for verified fundraisers for those affected by the flooding here. 2. Attention Florida residents, have you re-registered for your mail-in ballot? Florida law requires a redo for your mail-in ballot requests each cycle. Previous instructions have been canceled. Requesting a vote-by- mail ballot gives you multiple options to ensure your voice is heard at the polls.
