Let’s keep the momentum going from the John Lewis National Day of Action and help fight the Trump regime. Please take one or more of these actions to help protect and strengthen our democracy.
“You must be able and prepared to give until you cannot give any more. We must use our time and our space on this little planet that we call Earth to make a lasting contribution, to leave it a little better than we found it, and now that need is greater than ever before.” — Rep. John Lewis

Millions of families across the country are receiving notices from their school district that they will have to cut funding for many programs that provide academic enrichment, support for English language learners, and professional development to educators because the Trump administration refuses to release $6.8 billion in funding that was already allocated to public education. These funds were supposed to be released on July 1 of this year. Tell your members of Congress to demand the Trump regime release the $6.8 million it owes to school districts. Click here to contact them.
The Department of the Interior has proposed an 83% cut to Tribal college funding. If Congress signs off, over $100 million will vanish, destroying institutions that provide higher education and cultural lifelines to Native communities. To learn more and to write a letter to your Member of Congress demanding they not cut 83% to Tribal colleges, click here.
From the ACLU — DOGE is feeding our data to unvetted AI to surveil us and consolidating our data, putting us at massive risk of cyberattacks and misuse. It's a major violation of our privacy. Send a message here to your MoC and demand they stop DOGE from invading our privacy.
Alligator Alcatraz is an immigration detention facility built on swamp land that flooded soon after construction. Conditions inside are inhumane: immigrants are fed only once a day — and that food is often infested with maggots. The lights are kept on 24/7, there is no access to bathing, and extreme overcrowding worsens the suffering. To make matters worse, some Republican officials are profiting from this abuse by selling merchandise at the expense of detainees’ dignity. This is unacceptable. To learn more about the ongoing abuse and to take action by telling your member of Congress to shut down Alligator Alcatraz click here.
USDA wants states to hand over food stamp data to validate the accuracy of eligibility, determination and strengthen SNAP and government program integrity. If you have concerns that this may be an overreach that threatens the privacy and dignity of people who rely on food assistance, please comment here by July 23, 11:59 PM ET. For more information click here.
Contact your Republican members of Congress and tell them you will hold them accountable for slashing Medicaid and SNAP! Contact information is here.
After the devastating floods in Texas, which left people, including children, dead or missing — due in part to weakened warning systems caused by Trump-era cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service — we must take action now. Use 5calls.org to urge your members of Congress (MoC) to fund U.S. Weather Prediction and Climate Science so future lives can be saved. Click here to contact your MoC. You can also use 5calls.org to contact your reps about other issues you want them to vote on. Scripts are included.
Save the Fair Housing Initiatives Program. The Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) is a United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program created in 1987 to support people facing housing discrimination, educate about the nation’s fair housing laws, and cure the harmful effects of housing discrimination. Trump has terminated 78 grants to local fair housing organizations and the next budget will eliminate the program entirely. Please call your members of Congress (MoC), 202-224-3121, and demand that they preserve FHIP. For more info about FHIP and a script to call your MoC, click here.
