Welcome to our March 22nd edition!
We are thrilled to announce that DemCast is a partner organization for the April 5th national mobilization event: Hands OFF!
Hands Off! is an all-in moment for the pro-democracy, pro-worker movement—a demand, a warning, and a rallying cry that responds to the primary reasons for our mobilization:
Trump and Musk are attempting an illegal power grab is a crisis we must stop.
Trump, Musk, and congressional Republicans are gutting services, raising prices, and racing toward slashing Medicaid, Social Security, and more.
Trump, Musk, and congressional Republicans are on this path of destruction for the benefit of their billionaire allies.
Deepak at Democracy Labs shared a post: Trump kills Department of Education: Which schools might be closed? Check this map.
Contact your MAGA rep and tell them not to close your kids’ schools.

“ALL EYES ARE ON WISCONSIN - INCLUDING TRUMP’S
Donald Trump Jr told Republicans ‘the presidency can be put to a halt’ if Democratic Judge Susan Crawford beats former Republican state attorney general Brad Schimel for the swing seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The DNC is making its earliest-ever new election cycle investment in this race. Total spending is on track to reach $100 million dollars – including $20 million by Elon Musk-backed groups alone, who are paying people $100 each just to sign a petition. This is the last weekend before GOTV, and we all have the reminders we need of what’s at stake. Let’s check out all the ways we can volunteer here, sign up for a shift and share the doc with others who might be interested in making sure Republicans don’t take the majority.”
Lizzie’s List from Lean Left Vermont has a simple recommendation that we can do every day: “TALK with your friends, family, and neighbors. We are past the time to avoid “talking politics” with people who disagree with us or who are just unengaged. Be constructive, but do it.
Start by asking them a question and listening to what they say. For example: “What are you most concerned about?” “What is keeping you up at night?” Acknowledge their perspective and what’s important to them. And agree on something if you can.
Share your own story about why XXX matters to YOU: Why you think what’s happening is dangerous and harmful; how the actions of this administration affect you, your family, someone you know; and why you care. Then share how you are taking action.
Ask them if they want more information and tell them you can provide it. Use [this] state-by-state info … to provide information about how what is happening affects them, not just ‘other people.’
If it seems like there is an opening, encourage them to take action—small ripples by many will matter. If they ask ‘what can I do?’ give them some examples. Remind them to check the Lean Left Actions page often for up-to-date calls to action.
Encourage them to engage in social media posts constructively to correct disinformation and share facts. The person posting disinformation might be too brainwashed to listen, but those commenting and reading comments might not be!”
