Welcome to the June 7 edition of our partner newsletter!
“You support autocracy, not restrained or limited government. … You envision a King unbound by laws, who rules by decree, who accepts lavish gifts from foreign governments, who fills public offices with ultrawealthy and political allies, and who expels opposition and crushes dissent. This view of presidential authority could not be more un-American, and more dangerous to our constitutional order.” — Rep. Rosa DeLauro to Russ Vought
DemCast is proud to partner with groups around the country for the NO KINGS National Day of Mobilization.
On June 14 — Flag Day — Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington; it rises up everywhere else.
NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration

Joe Katz at Rogan’s List tells us that MTG admits she didn’t read the Republican budget bill!
“Elon is now publicly blasting the MAGA murder budget, calling it a ‘disgusting abomination’ that will explode the deficit (which is true). Senators including Rand Paul, Ron Johnson and Mike Lee have struck a similar note, calling for much deeper slashes to the services regular Americans depend on to pay for billionaire tax cuts. Meanwhile, a handful of GOP senators are complaining the Medicaid cuts are already too big. And to top it all off, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene became the latest House Republican to admit she did not read the bill before voting on it – and would have voted against it over the anti-AI regulation provisions. …
“The more people know about this bill, the angrier they get. So let’s tell them to slow down. We can call our members of Congress and tell them it’s outrageous they’re rushing such massive changes through so fast they don’t even know what they’re voting for.”
Republican voters should demand that leadership put on the brakes, and Democrats should use all procedural tools available to make sure they do.
We can also find more ways to push back against the Republican budget here.

Take action for Pride Month.
“We enter Pride Month in a hard moment, with the LGBTQIA+ community under attack by a hostile regime federally and in many states by the right and their rights being actively rolled back. And we’ve seen several Democratic politicians soften in their support of our friends and neighbors at a moment when they need us to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them, arguing that doing so will cost the party support. We need to send the message loud and clear: we will not surrender on human rights, and the freedom of our LGBTQIA+ siblings is non-negotiable.”
One way to start: show up for local Pride events in June.
Let’s check in with local LGBTQIA+ organizations on Mobilize or on this calendar to find one!
From Native Organizers Alliance:
“Since time immemorial, Native peoples have recognized, honored, and protected our Two-Spirit people, who have always held sacred roles in our societies. Around two-thirds of our Indigenous languages on Turtle Island have long had words to recognize and affirm more than two genders. …
“Right now, our Two-Spirit and trans relatives are under threat. Within the awful budget reconciliation bill that just passed the House of Representatives, there are provisions to cut life-saving care for Two-Spirit and trans people on public health insurance.”
Send a message to your senators: Reject this unprecedented attack on Two-Spirit and trans people!
Network NOVA shared an event: Wear Orange.
“Wear Orange Weekend, June 6–8, is a national campaign to raise awareness about gun violence and support the courageous advocates working to end it.
“Wear Orange Day, observed on June 6, began in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, a bright 15-year-old from Chicago who was tragically shot and killed just one week after marching in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. In her memory, Hadiya’s friends chose orange — the color hunters wear to protect themselves and others — to symbolize the value of every human life and to call for an end to gun violence. What started as a local act of love and protest has since grown into a powerful, nationwide movement for change.
“This June 6, let’s stand together.”
Find a Wear Orange event near you, gather your people, and show up.
Deepak at Democracy Labs posted: Republicans to deny women EMTALA emergency abortions: Mapping where the risk is greatest, reminding us that Republicans will never stop going after reproductive rights.
Check out this map of states that deny pregnant women emergency care.
Call your reps and tell them to stop gutting women’s rights.
Know your rights! The Charleston County Democratic Party shared this story about an incident in South Carolina. These raids are happening all over the country and everyone needs to know what to do if ICE tries to round them up.
“Local law enforcement agencies cooperated with ICE to arrest 80 undocumented immigrants at a nightclub in Summerville - but the majority of those arrested did not commit criminal offenses and were put into ICE custody solely because they were undocumented.”
