I’m calling from (zip code) and I want (legislator’s name) to know that the way Rumeysa Ozturk was arrested is not something that should be happening in America. She was arrested while peacefully walking on a sidewalk by people dressed in black, with covered faces and without visible identification as law enforcement officers. These people offered only their verbal assurance to witnesses that they were who they said they were as they pushed her towards an unmarked vehicle.
If gangs of criminals want to pick up people to rape or sex-traffic, our own government has just provided a model of how to do it in broad daylight.
This abuse of power is what happens in dictatorships. Those in charge of this operation should be brought in for questioning and fired.
Indivisible SF shared some green shoots for Democrats this week.
We are starting to see signs of Democratic senators stepping up. Sen. Cory Booker gave a marathon floor speech for 25 hours and 5 minutes. His monologue served to hold up Senate business and blockade Trump’s agenda.
Also, Senator Schiff announced a hold on the nomination of Edward Martin for U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, citing his corrupt conduct.
Call Sen. Corey Booker and Sen. Adam Schiff and thank them for fighting for us!
Encourage all senators to take more action to obstruct the Trump MAGA agenda.

Sue at Rogan’s List is warning us that new Trump tariffs will mean a Trumpcession.
“Trump announced a new round of import taxes [this week] that he claimed took effect immediately, including 10% across-the-board hikes to all imports by the United States, with even deeper taxes on the European Union and dozens of other countries, many of whom are critical trading partners (full list here). Trump has deemed this “Liberation Day,” but apparently his idea of “freedom” is us paying more for almost everything we buy - $3800 a year - and killing American jobs. (Senator Ed Markey has instead deemed it “Obliteration Day.”) Economists have suggested this could spark a recession and send the jobless rate skyrocketing.
Trump has the power to launch trade wars like this because Congress gave it to the president. They can step in – and in fact Senators Tim Kaine, Mark Warner and Amy Klobuchar forced a vote yesterday on the anti-Canada tariffs in the Senate and won 51-48, and Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) has promised to force another on this new set of taxes. Trump is purposefully imploding our economy, and our representatives need to step in and stop him or accept responsibility for the damage he’s doing.”
