Indivisible Chicago—South Side shared an opportunity from Working Families Power: Phone Bank To Tell House Republicans: Stop The Cuts!
Monday, April 21
2–4 p.m. ET
“As Donald Trump and Elon Musk are gutting Social Security and veterans’ benefits, Republicans in Congress just passed a budget resolution that will slash hundreds of billions from essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP. Why? So they can fund tax cuts for themselves and their billionaire friends.
But the fight isn't over. There is still a long way to go in the budget process before these cuts become law. In the coming days, members of Congress will be in their home districts for recess, and we're making sure that they hear loud and clear from their constituents: no cuts for working families and no more tax cuts for billionaires.”
Sign up here to make calls to voters in Republican districts and ask them to reach out to their members of Congress!
Join the Declaration for American Democracy Coalition for a national movement call to unite in solidarity to defeat the SAVE Act.
Tuesday, April 22
7–8:15 p.m. ET
The House has passed the dangerous SAVE Act, but the fight isn’t over. It’s time to move together.
This is more than a briefing, it’s a call to rise. Together, we’ll build power, protect the vote, and shape the future.

The team at Rogan’s List provided an update on Sen. Van Hollen’s refusal to give up and subsequent meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
“After initially being blocked by Salvadoran troops from entering the concentration camp at Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT) in the morning, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) prevailed and was able to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia … allowing us to confirm he is alive and passing along a message of love to his wife.
We are still waiting for details, and Kilmar remains illegally locked away without access to an attorney or any due process, but this is a tremendous relief to so many of us and proof that a bold, courageous stand can make a difference.”
Call or message Senator Van Hollen to thank him for his bravery and willingness to fight.
Call members of Congress to demand they work just as hard to bring Kilmar, and all those unjustly imprisoned, home and to hold Trump accountable for defying the courts: scripts and language here.
Deepak at Democracy Labs listed information on upcoming protests across the country.
Editor’s note: Only attend protests and rallies if you know the organizers. Familiarize yourself with all safety precautions prior to any events.
Not sure what to say about Trump’s reckless tariffs? Our friends from the Florida Democratic Party passed along these DNC Talking Points to use in your communications.
TARIFFS AND TAXES
Trump Wants to Use Working Families’ Hard-Earned Tax Dollars on Handouts for His Billionaire Backers
Donald Trump promised to lower costs on Day One, but his out-of-touch agenda is setting Americans’ dollars on fire, skyrocketing costs, and putting the economy on the verge of a “Trump recession.”
With Trump’s blessing, congressional Republicans are pushing forward a disastrous tax plan that will make permanent Trump’s tax handouts for the ultra-wealthy — and will “actively transfer money” away from working families.
Economists and voters agree: Trump doesn’t care about what’s best for the American people – just his billionaire backers.
Trump and the GOP’s tax bill is nothing but a scam to line the pockets of the ultra-rich — and it’s working families who will be left to foot the bill.
Chaos and Uncertainty Surround Trump’s Erratic and Chaotic Trade Policy — and Working Families Will Still Pay the Price
Make no mistake: Trump has only brought more chaos and dysfunction to his already-erratic trade policy — and the American people will still pay the price.
Economists have been clear that a recession is more likely than not. According to JPMorgan, the U.S. still faces a 60% chance of a recession. And several CEOs think we may already be in a recession.
Many Americans are already dealing with the consequences of Trump’s disastrous agenda. Prices are high, and are only getting higher. Americans are losing their retirement funds.
Almost three-quarters of Americans are bracing for higher prices on items that they buy every day.
Trump knows the damage his trillion-dollar consumer tax will do to the economy and to working Americans’ wallets, including spikes in grocery costs, gas prices, electronics, clothes, and more.
Consumers, businesses, and economists have been sounding the alarm on the devastating costs of Trump’s price hikes, and Trump himself admitted his trillion-dollar extra tax on consumers will cause “pain” for working families and he “can’t guarantee” his reckless plans won’t jack up costs.
