ACTIVIST ALERT: Help Preserve the Wisconsin Supreme Court
People are itching for something to DO to help preserve democracy. Here's a concrete option!
If you want to receive action items like this one from Abbi Lichtenstein, please subscribe to The Digital Drumbeat!
In addition to being a DemCast volunteer leader for the last several years, I am also volunteer for Silver Spring Progressive Action (“SSPA”), a grassroots organization in which I’m the Social Media Lead. We focus solely on elections, and on actions where we can make a difference. We mainly work on tight races that we think with our efforts, can either flip a seat or hold onto a seat. You can read more about SSPA and the work we do here.
SSPA often holds Zoom events with politicians, candidates running for office, organizers, or guest speakers who can give us a perspective and better understanding of what’s going on with races, issues, Congress, and discuss how our actions can further help Democratic wins especially in tight races. We also host phonebanks for candidates who are in tight races.
Helping in Wisconsin!
SSPA is working on the Wisconsin Supreme Court election on April 1st. We all know how important this election is. 2 years ago with all of our volunteer help, we elected Janet Protasiewicz which gave the Court a liberal majority. Since then, their rulings have increased voting rights, struck down gerrymandered legislative maps, and led to breaking the Republican super-majority. Soon the court will decide whether the 1849 abortion ban can be enforced. Now with a liberal justice retiring, all of these accomplishments of the Court are at risk. If the districts are gerrymandered again, it could have serious national implications in the 2026 midterm elections where Republicans can continue to control the House. It is vital that Susan Crawford, a fair jurist and who believes in the rule of law, is elected on 4/1 to become the next WI Supreme Court justice so that the Court would likely continue to rule in favor of Wisconsinites.
SSPA has a zoom event and a phonebanking opportunity to help elect Susan Crawford:

DemCast Social Media Campaign!
One more thing, please join the social media blast to help Susan Crawford get elected. TOOLKIT:
Thank you and I look forward to you joining us so we can not only help Susan Crawford get elected, but secure WI voting rights, women’s rights, and an opportunity to flip Congress in 2026 to stop trump, musk, and MAGA Republicans’ dangerous policies.
"There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction" (John F. Kennedy)
Are volunteers limited to Wisconsin residents only?
I help with Susan Crawford social media to spread the word!
