Starting tomorrow (Saturday, June 1), three of the world’s largest inhaler makers will cap the out-of-pocket cost for the most commonly used inhaler products at just $35 per month, lowering health care costs dramatically for millions of families impacted by asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions.

This news is the latest in a series of actions by the Biden-Harris Administration to combat corporate price gouging and ease the financial burden on hardworking American families.

On Friday, May 31st, thousands of Americans will be taking to social media to trumpet this latest Biden win vs. Big Pharma.

We’ll be using the hashtag #BreatheEasierWithBiden, which has a powerful double-meaning the day after the former president was convicted on 34 counts for election interference. We don’t need a criminal in the White House, so we can ALL breathe easier with Biden - whether we have asthma or not.

• Big drug companies charge Americans too much money for life-saving prescriptions — in fact, they charge Americans as much as 250 times what people in other countries pay for the exact same medications.

• That’s why President Biden is taking on drug companies with the Inflation Reduction Act he signed, allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors and capping the cost of insulin at $35 for Medicare recipients. 

• By pressuring drug manufacturers to do the right thing, President Biden got the three largest makers of inhalers to agree to lower the out-of-pocket cost of an inhaler to just $35 a month.

  • This will save the 27 million Americans who have asthma thousands of dollars a year — particularly for Black Americans, Latinos and Native Americans, who are all more likely to suffer from asthma than white Americans.

• This cap on monthly inhaler prices starts June 1, 2024, for all Americans — not just those on certain government programs.
