WAYS TO FIGHT BACK by boosting independent outlets that tell the truth.
1. The TRUTH
Do you want football or freedom? That isn’t a rhetorical question. Millions tuned in for their NFL fix, but nearly every major U.S. network—CBS, CNN, Fox, the Associated Press, ABC, NBC, and MSNBC—scrapped regular programming to air Charlie Kirk’s memorial service live. Those networks aired a propaganda rally dressed up as a tribute to a false martyr.
We are witnessing corporate America locking arms with political power. Comcast owns NBC, Disney owns ABC, FOX, and ESPN. Every broadcast minute is filtered through executives and advertisers who prize profit and access over truth. The same networks that profit from football spectacles profit from sanitized political theater, trading public trust for access and ad dollars.
Constitutional scholars like UCLA’s Eugene Volokh warn of “anticipatory obedience”: outlets censoring themselves to avoid government retaliation. The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression called FCC pressure a direct threat to the First Amendment, but networks buried the story. Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, professors and healthcare workers fired for dissenting opinions, and newsroom silence show how fast voices vanish from public life.
Kirk’s memorial was staged with the pomp of a state funeral: tens of thousands in attendance, Super Bowl-level security, and a parade of Trump, Vance, and Rubio on the podium. Anchors delivered glowing commentary while dissent disappeared. When have networks ever devoted this level of coverage to a private citizen? Almost never.
Don’t be fooled. Whether Sunday football or “breaking news,” corporate media decides what you see. Both serve boardrooms, not the public. Every dollar spent and every hour watched is a choice: accept corporate-filtered narratives at the cost of democracy, or fight back by supporting independent news free from government contracts and ad dollars.
Democracy doesn’t just die in darkness—it suffocates under obedient, complicit media. The choice is stark and urgent: football or freedom. Choose independence. Choose truth. Choose democracy before it’s taken from you completely.
