Why is protecting Medicaid/MediCal so important? Because it's not just policy—it’s people’s lives. Mine included.
I have an incurable bleeding disorder that requires regular blood transfusions and near-weekly iron infusions. Without Medicaid/MediCal, I simply cannot afford to stay alive.
Living on Social Security alone, I rely on Medicaid/MediCal to cover these life-sustaining treatments. I’ve already had the heartbreaking conversation with my doctor about what it would be like to die from blood loss if my coverage is cut. She’s deeply concerned.
I live alone. I have no other resources—no wealthy relatives to step in, no savings to fall back on. Just me, my Social Security check, and the Medicaid/MediCal coverage that keeps me breathing.
The hardest part? Telling my three beautiful granddaughters that their grandmother’s life is being sacrificed so the wealthiest Americans can receive tax breaks they don’t need.
Seems to me that millions of people don’t know they benefit from Medicaid and will be hurt if it is cut. It’s my understanding that Medicaid supports many state-run plans that go by other names, such as MassHealth in my state. Maybe you could include a graphic that lists the state programs?
Not getting notifications from you to do these digital rallies. I turn off Substack notifications because I’ll get too many from everyone I follow. Can we get notifications some other way?

Sorry I’m seeing this same day after the time of the action.
