The Senate’s New Budget Threatens American Lives
Americans are already disgusted by the devastating bill forced through the House a couple of weeks ago. But now that it’s landed in the Senate, the budget has somehow evolved to be even more destructive - doubling down on Medicaid cuts and shifting the proposal from reckless to downright catastrophic.
This budget doesn’t just affect Medicaid (but it still absolutely affects Medicaid, by making even deeper cuts) - it also:
sabotages assistance programs for low-income families
expands funding for immigration enforcement
removes protections and Pell Scholarship eligibility for higher education students
raises the National Debt Limit by $5 trillion ($1 trillion more than the House’s bill)
privatizes public land without environmental or tribal consultation
limits Congress’s ability to oversee the President’s firing of federal employees
