Republicans Are Trying to Torpedo a Huge Biden Win. You Can Help Stop Them.
The House GOP is trying to transfer $10 billion from the American people back to the credit card industry by reversing Biden's cap on credit card late fees.
What’s This About?
On March 5, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finalized a regulation that caps credit card late fees at $8, down from an average of $35. Overall, it will save families $10 billion per year, an average savings of $220 per year for the more than 45 million people who are charged late fees.
But the Republicans seem intent on using the Congressional Review Act to roll back the rule. The House Financial Services Committee marked up the “resolution of disapproval” in late April on a party-line vote.
Nearly 90% of constituents in battleground districts say they would support congressional action to ban junk fees – the hidden, unexpected fees that companies tack on to transactions, like service charges on concert tickets – according to polling by Navigator Research.
Polling by Americans for Financial Reform found 81 percent of likely voters support caps on late fees.
Take Action in Just a Few Clicks!
The House will soon vote on H.J. Res. 122 to end the new cap on credit card late fees.
It’s important that we take to social media on this issue for a couple reasons:
To influence the outcome of the vote.
To draw the contrast between Biden (who is going to bat for consumers) and Republicans (who are going to bat for junk fees).
This is a slam-dunk issue to trumpet because nearly all American hate junk fees.

Holocaust Remembrance Day
Yesterday was Holocaust Remembrance Day, and it’s never too late to send off messages calling for an end to antisemitism.
Please send off a few messages on social media in support of the Jewish community. One can both denounce Israel’s military actions in Palestine and ALSO call for an end to rampant antisemitism. They are not at all mutually exclusive.
