Welcome to the March 1 edition of our partner newsletter! Here you will find a weekly roundup of ways to resist the Trump administration and fight for democracy from grassroots groups across the movement.
Sue at Rogan’s List sent us a guide to help women in states with abortion bans, and links for joining the #PROTECTOURKIDS Day Of Action with the teachers’ unions on March 4.
Share this guide to getting life-saving procedures in abortion ban states.
A yearlong investigation by ProPublica revealed how abortion laws are affecting medical care for women experiencing pregnancy loss. Many women who had miscarriages faced delays or denials of necessary procedures, experiencing unnecessary pain and suffering and potential loss of life because of the confusion now surrounding abortion restrictions. These procedures, often used to treat miscarriage, are now approached with caution by some doctors who fear legal repercussions, leading to poor care. Women spoke about their terrifying experiences, feeling unprepared and unaware that abortion laws were influencing their treatment. In response, ProPublica created a guide with input from medical experts to help women navigate these challenges.

Our public schools are under attack. Trump and the GOP are attempting to funnel money away from public education to corporations. And they’re trying to eliminate the Department of Education and laying the groundwork for cutting federal aid to schools. We need to stand up for our kids. The American Federation of Teachers is calling on parents, teachers, friends, and neighbors to mobilize for a #ProtectOurKids day of action on March 4, highlighting the damage the MAGA war on public schools will do.

Indivisible Chicago—South Side has several opportunities to help with Wisconsin’s critical Supreme Court race.
“Back in 2023, Chicago's efforts helped Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz win her seat. Let's do it again--this time for Susan Crawford, running against an Elon-Musk-backed right-winger to win an open Supreme Court seat in the state's upcoming election.”
Help elect Susan Crawford.

Our friends at Indivisible SF sent us a call script for the budget fight ahead.
“Trump/Musk's unilateral and unconstitutional assertion of authority to slash budgets and impound (refuse to spend) legally authorized funds nullifies the congressional ‘Power of the Purse.’ And by doing so, destroys the Constitutional checks-and-balances on which our democracy rests.
But Congress still has the power to push back by refusing to enact budget-related legislation that finances the Trump/Musk coup.”
Use this call script as a template to contact your own representatives and senators and in your own words tell them to use every procedural tool possible to slow down House and Senate business and expose Republican complicity. No Democratic party votes for Trumpism!

A Discussion about the '24 Election & Handling Misinformation Moving Forward
Monday, April 21, 7:00-8:00 p.m. EST
One of our most popular guests, Dr. Lara Putnam, will join us to discuss some important data from the '24 Election and give us tools to combat the misinformation that seems to be everywhere these days. Dr. Putnam is the co-lead of the Southwest PA Civic Resilience Initiative of the Pitt Disinformation Lab at University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Cyber Security, a UCIS Research Professor of History, and the director of the Global Studies Center at Pitt.
Deepak at Democracy Labs provided an explainer called Truth vs. Trickery: How to counter What-aboutism, Strawman, and False Flag arguments.

The Florida Democratic Party is sending warning shots after just one month of Trump.
“TOPLINE: In the month since Inauguration Day, Donald Trump and his Florida White House appointees have broken the law and betrayed our communities.
Stay informed about the consequences of Trumpism:
Despite vowing not to weaponize the Justice Department, Pam Bondi ordered mass firings, ignored court orders, and set the stage for a constitutional crisis.
It took less than two weeks to discover how spineless Marco Rubio can be — he betrayed Venezuelan refugees by ending TPS status and striking a deportation deal with the Maduro regime.
Mike Waltz, instead of focusing on national security, has spent the last month defending Elon Musk’s illegal invasion of our government and celebrating the end of USAID.
Susie Wiles was supposed to be the adult in the room with Donald Trump, but she’s been either unwilling or unable to contain the chaos coming out of the White House.
Resisting Trump’s slip into fascism starts at home — we can’t afford to sit back while he makes America Florida.”
Lean Left Vermont
“While Lean Left will continue to focus on our work in swing states, we know that many of you are just plain overwhelmed by everything going on in Washington. So are we! So while we work behind the scenes to support our partners in PA, NC, NH, and VA, LIZZY [an active member of Lean Left VT] is going to bring us ways to push back against Trump/Musk/Vance/MAGA. How great is that?!”
