The Digital Drumbeat Partner Newsletter
A newsletter full of opportunities for engagement and national calls to action from our partner organizations around the country.
Welcome to the February 1 edition of our partner newsletter! Here you will find a weekly roundup of ways to resist the Trump administration and fight for democracy from grassroots groups across the movement.
Indivisible Chicago—South Side reposted a Substack article by former U.S. representative Marie Newman who answers the question: “What can we do to push back on MAGA and Trump and why aren’t Democratic Leaders laying out a plan?”
Do yourself a favor and read Marie Newman’s full post here.
Just a few of her thoughts:
Tell Democratic leaders to stop shutting down younger voices.
The blame game is not helpful. We must move forward and stop whining or finger-pointing, it’s done, let’s all move on and live in reality.
Do not obey in advance. Don’t bend a knee to Trump or his lieutenants. We need to be loud and consistent in public and with friends and family on all of the resulting issues that will inevitably percolate up during this coming administration, but do it in an everyday way, not a policy-wonky way. And do not blame Trump or his voters because we will need to persuade them later. In fact our goal is to commiserate over issues like high prices of groceries, unaffordable healthcare, the labor shortage, mass deportation, the collapse of the food and construction industries, deportations, etc.
Denigrating Trump voters or Trump will not help, but there are some villains and we should be clear and loud about this.
The Indivisible Guide is a great tool for activism groups. Read it and distribute to others.
Indivisible SF shared this opportunity to Pledge to Protect & Resist, which signals a mass commitment to show up for targeted communities and reject MAGA’s authoritarian agenda.
Across the country on February 1, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) members are taking action to move community leaders, elected officials, faith communities, local groups, institutions, and organizations to sign the pledge.
Lean Left urges us not to despair.
First, get back on social media if you are comfortable doing so. Return to or join Facebook and other platforms and start expanding your networks. Share your values and information from honest, ethical sources.
Second, watch the video below from Robert Reich.
Finally, find more ideas in their newsletter.
Indivisible Westchester is asking us to contact Senator Schumer and urge him to mobilize Senate Democrats to stop surrendering to MAGA extremists and fight back against Trump’s attacks on democracy.

From Rogan’s List this week: Support nonprofits.
Earlier this week, the Trump administration paused all federal grants and loans, an order which was then temporarily blocked by a federal judge.
Meanwhile, local and national nonprofits immediately felt the impact of the order, and are rightfully concerned that their organizations may not have enough money to survive any funding freeze, regardless of how long it lasts.
For those of us who are able, let's use this moment to support nonprofits in our community by donating our money and/or by volunteering. We can use this guide from BetterWorld to help us understand how to find local organizations, and the search tool at Great Nonprofits to help us connect with causes that we care about.
Deepak at Democracy Labs warns about the potential consequences of Russell Vought's Project 2025, urging readers to contact their senators to block Vought's nomination for Director of the Office of Management and Budget, OMB.
A cautionary tale from The WCDP News in Michigan: We have to call our senators!
At a recent State Wide Indivisible Meeting (SWIM), a member reported that Slotkin's staff said she voted for the Laken Riley Act because Republicans are filling up her voice mail.
Call senators (202) 224-3121
Mail or email senators
Tell them that we cannot tolerate Trump dismantling the Constitution, claiming the power to decide which laws to enforce, and throwing millions of lives into chaos. They must fight like hell: shut down the Senate, refuse to negotiate, and make this fight unavoidable. The stakes are nothing less than our democracy—and the lives of millions of Americans.
Ask them to:
Commit to oppose all of Trump’s unqualified and dangerous nominees
Deny any GOP requests for Unanimous Consent that would speed up floor proceedings
Oppose all cloture votes to further stall floor proceedings
Request a Quorum Call at every possible opportunity to force senators to physically be on the floor for business to proceed
What will our senators do to fight for democracy?
