It’s here! Today is Election Day!
That means we go HARDER today and make sure EVERYONE you know votes! The biggest defense against Trump and his allies trying to rig the results is a win SO BIG it can’t be disputed.
So today’s digital drumbeat is a little different — we want to equip you with everything you need!
First up: the voter protection hotline — 866-OUR-VOTE. Share this number everywhere. Any issues at the polls? Call IMMEDIATELY! It will be staffed until the last polls close in Hawaii.
Find your polling location, drop box, or poll closing time at iwillvote.com. One in ten voters will be voting at a new location this year. Make sure your network is VOTE READY!
Expect rampant disinformation across social media today. To stop the spread, take these steps before you amplify:
Ask and verify before you amplify — We do not want to inadvertently spread disinformation.
Not every incident needs to be mentioned — Some events are better managed quietly.
Reassure, do not alarm, voters — Let’s not dissuade anyone from voting.
Do not engage with false claims — Responding to them only helps SPREAD the disinformation.
It takes time to count every vote. Remember the headlines in 2018? “There was no Blue Wave?” But in the days that followed, we saw just how wrong that was; Democrats flipped 41 seats. So be patient. We may not have a clear picture tonight, and that is OK.
But, there ARE some early races to watch to get a sense of how the night will go:
Kentucky’s 6th District (polls close 6 ET) — now a toss-up. In 2024, the Republican won this district by 26 points.
Indiana’s 5th District (also 6 ET) — now Lean R. The Republican won by more than 18 points in 2024.
Florida’s 22nd District (polls close at 7 ET). This is currently a Democratic seat that was redrawn to make it favorable to Republicans. That didn’t work out so well for them; it’s now Lean R. The district is also one-third Hispanic voters.
What are we watching for? Not necessarily a win — we’re watching how BIG the shift is. Winning or coming within a point or two in any of these districts could mean a seismic victory for Democrats. But ONLY if we work for it.
