Key Talking Points from the Coalition
No one in America is above the law—and the verdict by a jury of everyday Americans demonstrates that even a former president cannot escape justice.
When any American commits a crime, they must face the consequences regardless of whether they're an everyday citizen, a candidate for elected office, or even a former president.Â
Donald Trump has sought to delay accountability and undermine the laws that govern our democracy—before and during this trial. Trump blatantly violated the court’s orders at least 10 times and was found in contempt of court twice for threatening courtroom staff, intimidating witnesses, and publicly criticizing jurors.
On Trump Facing Sentencing: If any other American on trial attacked witnesses and violated a judge’s orders that many times, they would have faced fines and potential jail time during the trial. No one is above the law, including Donald Trump—and after being convicted, just like any other American who committed these crimes, he shouldn’t receive special treatment in sentencing.
