Trump’s Newest Scheme: Gaza
First, it was buying or invading Greenland, then claiming the Panama Canal, and then it was making Canada the 51st state. Now Trump has announced that he plans to take over Gaza, and move all of the residents to some “beautiful” new place, possibly in Egypt or Jordan.
“Any plan to forcibly deport Palestinians outside the occupied territory against their will is a war crime, and when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack on the civilian population, it would constitute a crime against humanity.”

It should be noted that Hitler’s original plan was to deport all of Germany’s Jews. The Final Solution, the extermination of all Jews in Europe, was only implemented after other countries refused to take them in.
This is worrisome, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that Trump rarely delivers on his promises, so his plan to redevelop Gaza is unlikely to proceed, even if he longs to create Trump Resort - Gaza.
Fighting Antisemitism
While there are extremists here in the US and in Israel who will applaud Trump’s announcement, the majority of people in both those countries are not going to support this plan for ethnic cleansing. According to the Jewish Virtual Library, 66% of American Jewish voters supported Harris in the 2024 election.
What is more concerning is the potential for another rise in antisemitism here and abroad. Just as Trump has said that most Canadians approve of his 51st state idea, he will claim that most Jews support his terrible plan. As an American Jew, I intend to fight that lie in solidarity with people of other religions and nationalities. The recent jump in the hatred of Jews shows that we are still an accepted target, especially when we are silent.
Call to Action!
So, what can we, the beneficiaries of the American melting pot, do? Here are some ideas:
Reach out to local religious leaders (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and others) and ask them to reject Trump’s plan for Gaza publicly.
Contact your Senators and Representatives and tell them to speak out against this plan. You can also voice your opinions to Muslim and Jewish Congresspeople.
Get the word out! Inform people about the risks of moving forward with the Gaza plan.

When you watch newscasts of Gaza as it is today, they show crowds of mostly young men who are in their teens or early twenties.
If you try to relocate these people each one becomes a possible “terrorist”. He would call himself a freedom fighter.
The area has been fought over since before biblical times. There will never be a “winner”!
America does NOT want to involve themselves in another unending, unwinable war.
