I’m NOT confident that this won’t pass. Congress has basically the same plan under consideration in the House right now. (The SAVE act) Last summer it actually passed the House, but never made it to the Senate, so there is no reason to believe it won’t pass again.
I understand that. But regardless of whether or not his Executive Order somehow becomes law, the SAVE act is still on the docket for the House to take up.
I've been trying to learn more about just exactly an EO is and it's not a law, from what I understand and can't, in theory, be enforced. It does, I believe, give a green light to states that want to implement it. Even then, won't states have to change their voting laws through their state houses? It's more chaos, in any event.
EOs are basically memos the president uses to tell his team what he/she wants and they implement. Congress makes laws. But GOP governors could decide to go along with this sort of thing.
Trump wants to continue to screw the election. Turns out he actually was trying to do that with the whole big lie bullshit, now he’s just trying to executive order his way around it so he doesn’t have to cause a fucking insurrection again. https://thistleandmoss.com/p/the-big-truth-turns-out-trump-actually

this goes way beyond the save act.
